Szent Tamás hill

The picturesque hill overlooking the city centre of Esztergom is an important tourist destination, with its picturesque and winding streets and the church and historical monuments along them.

A special serpentine path leads up from the Szenttamás Hill on the downtown side to the peak, which is decorated with the national flag. Near the top you can see the large relief of Károly Antal Károly's Coronation of St. Stephen and the giant sundial of József Klotz. The top of Szenttamás Hill can also be reached by another route, along the Calvary Stations from the Vitéz János College. At the scene of Golgotha is a small chapel named after St Thomas Becket, Archbishop of Canterbury (who is also the namesake of the district). From here, every day at half past four in the afternoon, you can hear the trumpet music of the Treaty of Trianon, which has become a signature of Esztergom.

The Szenttamás Hill, like the Várhegy, offers a magnificent panorama for those who want to see Esztergom and its surroundings from above. On a clear day, the city below, the surrounding hills, the Danube, the Prímás Island, the Mária Valéria Bridge and the distant mountain ranges can be seen and fascinating photos can be taken.
